Dicom extender page content:
Before installing, please remember that DICOM eXtender requires a Microsoft SQL Database in order to function. We currently recommend using Microsoft SQL Server Express 2008 R2 if you need a free database; however, our software will also work with other versions of MS SQL such as 2008, 2005 or even MSDE.
When setting up SQL Server 2008 Express please select the default instance in the "Instance Configuration" page and in the "Server Configuration" page change the SQL Server Database Engine's Account Name to "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" and SQL Server Browser's Startup Type to Automatic. On the Database Engine Configuration, don't forget to set a password for the sa account. If you are using SQL 2008 or higher you must disable password policy enforcement for the user that extended will be connecting as.
The instructions above are for installing the database on the same machine that DICOM eXtender has been installed to. The settings specified above are general instructions for getting DICOM eXtender to work and are no means an optimized configuration for your setup and network. For higher work loads the SQL Database should ideally be on a separate machine and in that case you will need to work with your IT department or database administrator to set up your database or to use an existing one.
Also note that you should close all running applications before you begin this installation as the computer will automatically restart upon completing the installation.

Provide a name, email, username, and password for the administrative account that will configure and control the router and click "Next" (If you unchecked "Create Database" you will not be prompted for this information.
Click "OK" to restart your computer to complete the install process. Once the computer has been restarted the Router will have been installed and the Management Console will now need to be installed either on the same machine or another connected to it by the network.
The installation of DICOM eXtender Management Console has two program dependencies: "Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1" and "Microsoft WSE 2.0 SP3" These programs are bundled with the "DesktopUI_Setup.exe" used to install the Management Console and will be installed automatically if they are not already installed.
